These are the rules of the road for using Matome. Nothing unusual here — just the standard stuff that keeps things fair for everyone. By using the service, you're agreeing to what's outlined below.
By accessing or using Matome ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms or the Privacy Policy, you may not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, visitors, and any person who accesses or uses Matome in any capacity.
Matome is an email management service that uses artificial intelligence to identify, filter, and mute unwanted sales and marketing emails. The Service connects to your email provider through the Gmail API, reads your email content to classify messages, and delivers a daily brief summarizing what was filtered. Matome offers a free tier and an optional paid membership with additional features.
You must authenticate through Google OAuth to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us immediately at hello@matome.ai if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account. You may only create one account per email address.
To provide the Service, Matome requires access to the content of your emails through the Gmail API. By connecting your Google account, you explicitly consent to Matome accessing, reading, processing, and analyzing your email content — including sender information, subject lines, message bodies, headers, and metadata — for the sole purpose of providing email filtering, classification, and daily brief generation.
Matome uses machine learning to improve the accuracy of filtering for your account. Any machine learning applied to your email data is personalized to your account only. Your email data is not co-mingled with other users' data and is not used to train generalized, foundational, or non-personalized AI or ML models.
You may revoke this access at any time through your Google Account permissions or by contacting us. Revoking access will immediately stop Matome from accessing your emails. For full details on how your data is collected, used, stored, and protected, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Matome's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Your Google user data is used only to provide and improve user-facing features that are prominent in Matome's interface. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not transfer it to third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.
Matome offers optional paid memberships processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis at the rate displayed at the time of purchase. You may cancel your membership at any time, and cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law. Matome reserves the right to change membership pricing with at least 30 days' prior notice.
You agree not to: (a) misuse the Service or interfere with its operation; (b) reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service; (c) attempt to access the Service through any method other than the interfaces we provide; (d) use the Service for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms; (e) use the Service in violation of any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation; (f) use automated scripts, bots, or other means to create multiple accounts or to abuse the Service; or (g) attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or circumvent any security mechanisms.
The Matome service, including its software, algorithms, machine learning models, user interface design, branding, logos, and content, is owned by Matome and protected by applicable intellectual property laws, including copyright, trademark, and trade secret law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works based on any part of the Service without prior written permission from Matome. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. MATOME DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ALL UNWANTED EMAILS WILL BE CORRECTLY IDENTIFIED AND FILTERED. MATOME MAKES NO WARRANTY REGARDING THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR RELIABILITY OF ANY CONTENT OR INFORMATION OBTAINED THROUGH THE SERVICE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MATOME AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY (CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE) AND EVEN IF MATOME HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO MATOME IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Matome, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of or access to the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (d) any content or data you transmit through the Service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Matome at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice, including for any violation of these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time by emailing hello@matome.ai or by revoking access through your Google Account permissions. Upon termination: (a) your right to use the Service ceases immediately; (b) we will stop accessing your email data; and (c) your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including deletion upon request within 90 days. Sections 8 through 11, 13, and 14 shall survive any termination of these Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. You agree that any claim must be brought within one (1) year after the cause of action arises, or such claim shall be permanently barred.
Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Matome with respect to the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, and understandings.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. Matome may assign these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page and updating the date below. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Matome after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
